Hate Crime Advocacy Service

The organisation Connected Voice, are now providing a new training course about Hate Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour which is delivered by their Advocacy team. This course draws upon their latest research along with collaboration from Durham and Northumbria Universities.

The training also includes the usage of the new Hate ID App to help understand the impact of hate crime, repeated hate relationships, and how to address and seek support for victims. Hate Crime Advocacy Service

The Connected Voice in Newcastle have now opened their Hate Crime Advocacy service to Northumberland residents and they have made their training resources available to VSCE organisations within this region.

What is this service?

This service provides support to individuals cross Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North or South Tyneside, or Northumberland who have experienced or are at risk of hate crime. If you have experienced a hate crime or have been targeted because of your race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or transgender identity. By going through this advocacy service Connected Voice will be able to provide you with the following support.

Please find below the support that Connected Voice can help you by:

  • Listening to you and understanding what you are going through
  • Helping you to get information about your rights and options
  • Supporting you to report hate crimes if you want to
  • Helping you to be heard and deal with others (e.g. the police, housing, medical services)
  • Taking your side
